Bahrain doubled oil revenues in 2004

ABU DHABI — Bahrain has reported a significant increase in energy
revenues.
A government report said Bahrain's oil revenues nearly doubled to 944
million dinars, or $2.5 billion, in 2004. Bahrain is the smallest energy
producer in the Gulf Cooperation Council.
The Abu Safa oil field contributed 733.6 million dinars [$1.94 billion],
or 77.7 percent of the total oil revenues, the report said. Officials said
the figure marked a 337.6 million dinar [$894 million] increase over initial
estimates of 396 million dinars, Middle East Newsline reported.
The Bahrain Oil Field generated revenues of 143.1 million dinars [$380
million], an increase of 120.6 million dinars. Bahrain's gas exports reached
65.2 million dinars [$173 million] in 2004, a decrease of 4.8 million
dinars, or 6.9 percent. The report said gas revenues represented 6.9 percent
of the total energy revenues, down from 8.2 percent in 2003.
