The United States has again warned of an imminent
Islamic insurgency attack in Kuwait.
Officials said Islamic insurgents linked to Al Qaida were planning a
major attack in Kuwait. They said the likely target, but not the sole
target, would be Westerners in the sheikdom.
The State Department said groups deemed terrorists were planning attacks
in the near future. The department called on Americans in Kuwait to maintain
a low profile and avoid locations frequented by Westerners.
Some of those locations warned by the department focused on so-called
soft targets. They included restaurants, hotels, clubs, shopping areas,
public transportation, residential areas and oil-related facilities and
personnel.
