WASHINGTON Ñ The United States plans to issue another report on
Palestinian terrorism.
U.S. officials said the State Department plans to issue a report on
Palestinian Authority compliance with anti-terrorist efforts this week. They
said the report would be relayed to Congress by the end of the month.
The report, officials said, would reflect the captured PA documents
relayed to Washington by Israel. The documents detail PA financing of
insurgency attacks against Israel, Middle East Newsline reported.
"We will address that in more detail more formally in the next PLO-CA
report, which we will have up to the Congress before the end of June,
covering the period that runs through the 15th of June and the period in
which we actually received the documents from the Israelis," Assistant
Secretary of State William Burns said.
Last month, the State Department released a report for the last six
months of 2001 that determined that the PA was not directly involved in
terrorism. The report ignored the Israeli-supplied Palestinian documents and
members of Congress called for another investigation.
