GAZA CITY ø The Gaza Strip is seething after six people have been killed in clashes between Palestinian police and opposition forces over the weekend.

On late Saturday, the Palestinian Authority arrested two Islamic Jihad leaders in the Gaza Strip. They said the two leaders were involved in the latest clashes with the PA.

Six Palestinians were killed on Friday during clashes between Hamas and Islamic Jihad and PA forces. The Palestinians were killed in the aftermath of a funeral at the Jabalya refugee camp in northern Gaza Strip.

Another 50 people were injured in the Gaza Strip clashes.

Witnesses said Jihad militants exchanged fire with PA officers. They said Jihad forces threw a bomb at a police station in Jablya.

On Saturday, both Hamas and Islamic Jihad announced an agreement with the PA. Palestinian sources said the two Islamic opposition groups agreed to a suspension of attacks in Israel. The suspension does not include attacks on Israelis in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.

Thousands of Palestinians attended the funeral of the youngsters on Saturday. The funerals passed without incident.

In Israel, Foreign Minister Shimon Peres is reported to have drafted a plan for the establishment of a Palestinian state within two months. Prime Minister Ariel Sharon has dismissed the plan.
