Send us your high-tech Christmas wishlist and win an Amazon.com gift certificate from WorldTechTribune!

With one week to go until Christmas, shoppers are hastily cramming into malls and clicking through on-line stores in the hopes of finding that perfect gift. On Monday, your ol' pal Scott turned the Tech section here at the World Tribune over to the readers. The idea was to have the international audience of the World Tribune post their Christmas wishlists for Father Christmas, Santa Claus or whatever regional name for Saint Nicholas they use, so he may bring them some high-tech toys under their Christmas trees.

My own high-tech Christmas wishlist posted yesterday to get everyone in a high-tech holiday mood contained three things: A video card, an Apple Power Mac G4 for making professional quality digital movies and a punch in the mouth for "Steve," the annoying kid in the Dell TV commercials. From my own template, I asked for World Tribune readers to send me their high-tech wishlists for me to post on the Tech section. Readers were asked to send me their name, town and a list of high-tech toys for Santa to load up on his sleigh. As of Monday night, this one email was all I had received:

"I want a Dell Laptop computer and a digital camera. Will you buy them for me?

I. Evans"

You want the short answer?

"No."

However, I recognize what this email signifies at this Christmas season. Brotherhood, peace and harmony won't be found December 25th by asking for emailed wishlists from strangers. No, I realize now that Christmas is the season for giving and a time when busy people don't have time to email wishlists if there's nothing in it for them. So kids, I, Scott McCollum, Editor for the World Tech Tribune, have decided to give away a $20(US) gift certificate from our friends at Amazon.com. Use this $20 to buy a high tech toy or a low tech toy from any of Amazon.com's 27 on-line stores .

The rules are short and simple:

1) Send me an email with your high-tech Christmas wishlist before midnight Central Standard Time on December 20th, 2001. If you want the gift certificate, include your name and town along with a REAL email address.

2) Make your list stand out. If I post your list, you'll be in the running for the $20 gift certificate.

3) On Friday at noon Central Standard Time, I will announce the winner here at the World Tribune's Tech section and email the Amazon.com $20 gift certificate to the winner's email address. Read up on how to redeem your gift certificate from World Tech Tribune at Amazon.com. Send me your high-tech wishlist today scott@worldtechtri bune.com and Merry Christmas to you all, from the World Tech Tribune.
