During a campaign rally in Tucson, Arizona on Thursday, former President Donald Trump vowed to eliminate taxes on overtime pay.
As part of the GOP candidate’s series of proposed cuts aimed at giving workers more disposable income, Trump said:
“That gives people more of an incentive to work. It gives the companies a lot. The people who work overtime are among the hardest-working citizens in our country. And for too long, no one in Washington has been looking out for them.”

Trump continued: “Those are the people, they really work. They’re police officers, nurses, factory workers, construction workers, truck drivers and machine operators.”
“So, that’s why we will be saying that if you’re an overtime worker when you’re passed 40 hours a week, think of that,” he added. “Your overtime hours will be tax-free.”
Trump has also promised to end the taxation on Social Security benefits and end taxes on tips for service workers
Trump said adding his new policies and keeping his 2017 tax cuts in place will be part of how he will “end the era of inflation, mayhem and misery under the Kamala [Harris] and Crooked Joe [Biden] regime and unleash safety, prosperity and peace for Americans of every race, religion, color and creed.”
The former president also promised executive action “terminating every single unnecessary rule driving up the cost of housing” with the aim of slashing the cost of building a new home by 30% to 50%.
“I have been a builder my entire life,” Trump said of his plan to “Make America Affordable Again. I understand the problem and I will fix it.”
