Prior to signing an executive order on Wednesday which bans men from competing in women’s sports, President Donald Trump directed the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to “deny any and all visa applications” of transgender athletes who would attempt to enter the United States and compete as women.

Before signing the executive order, Trump had commented on the 2028 Summer Olympics, saying:
“In Los Angeles in 2028, my administration will not stand by and watch men beat and batter female athletes, and we’re just not going to let it happen, and it’s going to end. And it’s ending right now, and nobody’s going to be able to do a damn thing about it because when I speak, we speak with authority. And, for the same reason — just to make sure, I’m also directing our Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem……to deny any and all visa applications made by men attempting to fraudulently enter the United States while identifying themselves as women athletes, trying [to] get into the games.”
California, it appears, does not intend to abide by Trump’s order.
The San Francisco Chronicle reported that the California Interscholastic Federation, the governing body for high school sports in the state, said that organization “provides students with the opportunity to belong, connect, and compete in education-based experiences in compliance with California law.”
California state education code says that students are allowed to participate in school programs and extracurricular activities, including sports, consistent with their gender identity.
“The CIF does not collect data on how many trans student athletes are participating in sports in the state. The group said it will continue to follow state law even with an executive order that directly opposes the California education code,” the report said.
The Chronicle added that Democrat Gov. Gavin Newsom, who is in Washington to ask for federal aid for recent wildfires, tried to keep a low profile on the issue, and to downplay its significance, as he has done when confronted in the past.
The NCAA on Thursday announced it has officially changed its gender eligibility policies to ban all biological males from women’s sports.
The new policy of the governing body of college sports states: “A student-athlete assigned male at birth may not compete on a women’s team.”
Trump has taken several steps to protect women’s sports from transgender athletes, such as announcing that the “official policy” of the government is that “there are only two genders: male and female.”
Trump has also signed an executive order barring “destructive and life-altering procedures” from being performed on individuals under the age of 19. Breitbart News’s Katherine Hamilton reported that since Trump’s executive order, “several hospital systems” in several states have “paused sex change drugs and surgeries for minors.”
California Attorney General Rob Bonta has has warned a children’s hospital in Los Angeles against complying with Trump’s executive order that bans the use of drugs and surgery to promote gender transitions in children — treatments that are increasingly controversial worldwide, because they may be irreversible and children may not be able to give informed consent.
