Gaetz nomination galvanized Swamp; Careerists at DOJ, FBI are ‘lawyering up’

The naming of former Rep. Matt Gaetz as U.S. Attorney General served as an immediate distraction from “lawfare” to “lawyering up.” Talking heads on corporate media who dismissed the appointment as “not serious” failed to appreciate how seriously it was regarded at the U.S. Department of Justice.

Current and former top officials at the Department of Justice and FBI who pursued the unprecedented investigations and raid on President-elect Donald Trump are considering hiring lawyers “in anticipation of being criminally investigated” by the incoming Trump administration, reports say.

Mark Zaid, a national security attorney, told Politico: “There are a small number of people who I have told, ‘Look, you should take a vacation outside of the country around the time of inauguration, just to see what happens.’ ”

“Just go on a routine vacation and see what plays out come Jan. 20, 21st, 22nd,” the lawyer added.

When Zaid was asked about how “Democrats opened up this can of worms by prosecuting Trump” he admitted that the “New York City case was politically based” as well as the “Georgia case.”

Breitbart’s Wendell Husebo noted: “The preemptive initiative underscores a serious belief that Trump will make good on his promise to purge the federal government of rogue and corrupt actors within the administrative state.”

Sen. Eric Schmitt told NBC News’ “Meet the Press” Sunday that President-elect Donald Trump should fire anyone in the Justice Department who participated in the criminal cases against him.

The Missouri Republican, who served as Missouri’s attorney general before winning election to the Senate said the charges against the former president were politically motivated and actionable.

“First and foremost, the people involved with this should be fired immediately,” he said

“Anybody [who was] part of this, this effort to keep President Trump off the ballot and to throw him in jail for the rest of his life because they didn’t like his politics, and who continue to cast him as a quote, unquote threat to democracy, was wrong,” he said.

Trump transition adviser Mark Paoletta warned career unelected feds they would be fired if they in any way attempt to subvert Trump’s policies the DOJ may have to implement, including mass deportation of illegal aliens, banning race-based affirmative action, halting Big Tech censorship, and granting pardons and commutations to J6 defendants.

According to NBC News, Trump’s decisive election victory sent some long-time and senior-level staff at the DOJ and FBI in search of legal representation over fears Trump’s team could go after them legally.

Trump’s selection for attorney general, Pam Bondi, has vowed in the past to prosecute the “bad” prosecutors who went after Trump.

“The Department of Justice, the prosecutors will be prosecuted, the bad ones,” Bondi said on Fox News last year after Trump was indicted in Georgia on charges of trying to overturn the results of the 2020 election. “The investigators will be investigated.”

Entrenched feds see Bondi as a Trump loyalist and fear she will not hesitate to carry out his push to investigate those who launched the unprecedented lawfare operation against him.

“I would expect her to do exactly what Trump wants her to do,” a recently departed senior DOJ official told NBC News, adding that members of special counsel Jack Smith’s team are very concerned and talking to lawyers.

In October 2021 Trump signed an executive order (EO) to reclassify federal government employees into Schedule F, which would have allowed the president to enhance accountability, including job performance accountability, within the bureaucratic agencies. “You have some people that are protected that shouldn’t be protected,” Trump said about Schedule F.

Joe Biden canceled the order in 2021.

With Trump’s victory, he could re-implement the executive order and purge the unelected bureaucrats many believe are artificially running the Biden-Harris government.
