Enviro-wacko alert: Professor counsels ‘ecosexual’ encounters

by WorldTribune Staff, August 21, 2018

Environmentalists for many years have spoken out about how the Earth is getting, well, taken advantage of by its inhabitants.

This may not be what they meant.

It seems that some tree huggers are taking it to the next level, as evidenced by a recently published article in the journal Feminist Theory which defines the newly-minted sexual orientation – the “ecosexual.”

“1. A person that finds nature sensual, sexy. 2. A new sexual identity. 3: Person who takes the Earth as their lover,” wrote Professor Lauran Whitworth of St. Mary’s College of Maryland.

Porn star/feminist stripper Annie Sprinkle and her partner reportedly started the “ecosexual” movement to encourage adherents to see nature as their lover rather than their mother.

Will planet Earth join the #MeToo campaign?

Whitworth described Sprinkle’s encounter with a redwood tree at Yosemite National Park.

“In the spirit of carnival, ecosexuality embraces degradation and decomposition. Sprinkle describes her first encounter with redwood trees at Yosemite National Park: ‘I loved the scent of the trunk, like vanilla mixed with soil. I have a strong memory of coming across a redwood that had fallen over from a storm. I walked around off the trail and peeked at its freshly exposed roots. So soft, so sensuous, so sexy! I had to touch them.’ ”

According to Whitworth, “ecosexuality celebrates the carnal and grotesque, particularly in some of its campiest moments.”

The professor also writes about how defecating outside is a form of “ecosexuality.”
