A U.S.-led consortium has released an estimate of the new Tamar Southwest block in the Mediterranean Sea.

The consortium, led by Noble Energy, said Tamar Southwest could contain 19 billion meters of gas.

“At this stage there are only estimates and assumptions, which contain no certainty,” the consortium said on Nov. 26.

In a report to the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange, the consortium disclosed traces of significant hydrocarbons in Tamar Southwest, which overlaps both the Tamar and Eran blocks.

The consortium said it would conduct additional tests on Tamar Southwest.
