Industry sources said the oil minister from the new African republic
arrived in Israel and signed an agreement to supply oil to the Jewish state.

The sources said the agreement was preliminary and would involve
arrangements on transporting oil from landlocked South Sudan to a friendly African port.

“This is an agreement that would require months if not years until it
was fully implemented,” a source said.

Israel has been deemed a leading supplier of South Sudan, particularly
in the field of agriculture and medicine.

Sudan has blocked the use of its
pipelines for the new southern state, established in July 2011.
