Sudan’s official news agency said the Khartoum regime received $236 million in oil fees from South Sudan in 2013. The agency quoted a senior official as saying that the fees covered the transportation of South Sudanese oil to Port Sudan.

“The government of South Sudan sent the fees for oil transportation to the Sudan Central Bank,” the news agency said on Aug. 25.

This marked the first time Khartoum reported the fees charged for South Sudanese oil exports.

Khartoum has repeatedly threatened to block South Sudanese oil exports unless Juba ended support to rebels in Sudan.

On Aug. 23, the United Nations Security Council called on Sudan not to suspend the oil flow.
