The Saudi-led coalition said its air defenses stopped the missile from reaching the kingdom’s southern Jazan district.

“Air forces immediately destroyed the launch pad inside Yemen,” the coalition said.

At least two other missiles have been fired by the Houthis in recent days despite a seven-day ceasefire.

The coalition also reported that three civilians, two of them from India, died on Dec. 19 when shellfire from Yemen struck the Saudi border city of Najran.

Talks between the Yemeni government of President Abd Rabbo Mansour Hadi and the Houthis concluded on Dec. 20 without a major breakthrough. Yemeni Foreign Minister Abdel Malak al-Mekhlafi said the much-violated ceasefire will be extended for seven days after it expired on Dec. 21.
