LONDON — More details on North Korea’s presence in Iran’s
missile and nuclear program have come to light, according to news reports from Seoul, South Korea.

A diplomatic source said Pyongyang has deployed hundreds of specialists
in nuclear weapons and missile facilities in Iran.

The source, believed to be an intelligence official, was quoted by South Korea’s Yonhap news agency as saying on Nov. 13 that the North Koreans were manning 10 facilities around
the Middle East power.

“The revelation lends credence to long-held suspicions that North Korea
was helping Iran with a secret nuclear and missile program,” Yonhap said.

The news agency, believed to have authoritative information on
North Korea, did not elaborate. Over the last few years, reports have
circulated about North Korean engineers and technicians working in Iran on nuclear and missile facilities.

The Iranian embassy in South Korea has denied the Yonhap report. The
embassy said Teheran did not require foreigners for what it termed was a
“peaceful nuclear program.”

“Iran’s nuclear technology is completely domestically-made, thus no
foreign experts are needed,” the Iranian embassy said in a statement.
