The U.S.-led boycott threatens to rain on Vladimir Putin’s military parade commemorating the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II in Europe.
The Kremlin is concerned that too few party-goers will attend its major celebration. The military parade will take place at Red Square on May 9.
President Barack Obama has said he will not attend, as have many European leaders including Chancellor Angela Merkel of Germany.
On April 4, Sergey Ivanov, President Vladmir Putin’s chief of staff announced that there had already been 25 countries that have RSVPed to the Kremlin, including China and North Korea.
