President Barack Obama said not having a “day after plan” in Libya was the worst mistake of his presidency.

But Obama, still very much the team player, saddled much of the blame on UK Prime Minister David Cameron rather than former secretary of state and current Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton.

In an interview with Fox News’ Chris Wallace, Obama insisted that intervening in Libya, a move that was heavily pushed by Clinton, was “the right thing to do” but that not preparing for the aftermath of ousting Col. Moammar Gadhafi was the biggest mistake of his presidency.

In an earlier interview with Atlantic magazine, Obama said Cameron shared the blame for Libya’s descent into chaos as the UK prime minister became “distracted” after the intervention.

Clinton, who boasted that “we came, we saw, he (Gadhafi) died,” has said Libya was one of her top accomplishments as secretary of state.

After Gadhafi was killed, warring militias took over much of the country and two rival parliaments and governments formed. In the past year, Islamic State of Iraq and Levant (ISIL) has gained a foothold in Libya and the country became a major departure point for migrants and refugees trying to reach Europe.

A UN-backed national unity government arrived in the capital Tripoli earlier this month but is waiting to take charge.
