N. Korea said plotting military provocation to counter ‘unusual’ unrest

SEOUL — North Korea has prepared a massive military parade and most likely military provocations in a bid to stabilize the ruling elite and the public, military and government sources here said.

The intent is to offset public disruptions and group defections spurred by leader Kim Jong-Un’s reign of terror.

According to South Korea’s National Intelligence Service, Kim has ordered the execution of more than 16 senior officials this year this year alone, including defense minister Hyun Yong-Chol, as he continued to struggle to establish the monolithic authority commanded by his father and grandfather, Kim Jong-Il and Kim Il-Sung.

South Korean Foreign Minister Yun Byung-Se told a recent forum in here that Kim Jong-Un has purged and executed more than 70 officials since he took power in December 2011.
