SEOUL — North Korea’s youthful leader Kim Jong-Un has focused attention on the Air Force while piloting an allegedly indigenous light plan and boosting Air Force personnel.
Kim made an inspection tour of a factory manufacturing the country’s own light aircraft on April 1, according to Pyongyang’s official Korean Central News Agency. The North is “indigenously” producing light aircraft at the Machine Plant Managed by Jon Tong-Ryol,” the news agency claimed.
Photographs released by the agency showed Kim touching the body of a light plane, surrounded by a group of officials and military officers. The photos also showed military aircraft being assembled in the factory.
It was the first time the North’s tightly-controlled media had revealed the secretive nation’s plane-manufacturing capability.
