ISA said Palestinian insurgents focused operations in the West Bank and Jerusalem.

“May 2014 saw a slight increase in the number of terror attacks: 116 attacks as opposed to 112 in April 2014,” ISA said. “The increase was prominent in Judea and Samaria [West Bank]: 96 attacks as opposed to 80 in April, while 16 of them occurred in the ‘Jerusalem Envelope’ — 13 in April.”

In a statement on June 8, Israel’s domestic intelligence agency cited
such attacks as firebombs and stone-throwing. One of the attacks took place
in Jerusalem’s Temple Mount, in which a police officer was injured.

ISA said most of the attacks in the West Bank consisted of firebombings.
Fourteen of the attacks were said to have been improvised explosive devices.

In contrast, ISA reported a decline in attacks from the Hamas-ruled Gaza
Strip. The statement also cited rocket strikes from Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula.

“On the other hand, the Gaza Strip saw a decrease: 9 attacks as opposed
to 23 in April,” ISA said.
