Israel reports major uptick in attacks from Gaza Strip

JERUSALEM — Israel has reported an increase in Palestinian
insurgency attacks.

The Israel Security Agency asserted that Palestinian gunners
increased missile, mortar and rocket strikes in October. ISA said
Israel sustained 80 attacks from the West Bank and Gaza Strip, compared to
68 during September.

“In October, 46 attacks originated in the Gaza Strip, compared to 12 in
September,” ISA said.

In a statement on Nov. 7, ISA reported that Palestinian gunners fired 52
rockets and six mortars from the Gaza Strip during the previous month. In
September, Israel was struck by eight rockets and two mortars fired from the
Gaza Strip. On Oct. 29, one Israeli was killed by a Palestinian rocket.

ISA reported a decrease in attacks from the West Bank. In Jerusalem, six
attacks were reported in October, compared to 17 during the previous month.

“In Judea and Samaria [West Bank], there were 28 attacks, compared to 39
the previous month,” ISA said.
