Sheikh Hassan Yousef was arrested on Oct. 20 in Beitunya, west of Ramallah. The 60-year-old Yousef was allegedly using social media and local mosques in an effort to incite a spate of recent stabbing attacks against Jews.

Yousef “ferments violence and conflict against Israel among the Palestinian public,” Israel Defense Forces (IDF) officials said.

Meanwhile, a top cleric in an appearance on the official Hamas Al Aqsa television station said Hamas would “not leave a single Jew, dead or alive… on the land of Islam and the Muslims.”

Sheikh Iyad Abu Funun added: “We will not leave a single one of you, alive or dead, on this land. By Allah, we will dig up your bones from your graves and get them out of this country. We will not leave any trace of you in this land.”
