Iran intel said to be spooked by own homegrown cyber activists

The Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps’s intelligence agency has arrested “a number of cyber activists with links to foreigners,” the Teheran Fars News Agency reported.

“[The Iranian cyber activists] were working within a complicated security-media network,” an IRGC official charged.

Iran is one of the most xenophobic countries in the world with an iron-grip on its citizens’ domestic cyber activities.

Yet the Iranian authorities are often concerned about its rather vibrant and tech-savvy youth groups who are not necessarily in line with government regulations on internet security and restrictions.
