The two countries signed the accord during a visit by Czech Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka on Nov. 25. Officials said the agreement called for cooperation between the defense industries of Israel and Czech.

“We have just signed joint declarations in many fields that enhance this cooperation, in international affairs, in defense, in bilateral trade investment, in finance, in economic cooperation, in scientific R&D and technological research,” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said.

Netanyahu did not disclose details of the defense accord. But he said his Czech counterpart sought to advance Prague’s technological capability in areas that match Israel.

“We look forward to that cooperation,” Netanyahu said.

Officials said Prague, with an industry left over from the Cold War, has been interested in working with Israel in such areas as joint defense development and marketing. They said Czech also sought Israeli expertise in cyber security.

“We’re prepared to cooperate on this, because we think this is essential for the functioning of modern states,” Netanyahu said.
