ANKARA — Turkey’s shale reserves could prove promising for energy
exploration.

A Canadian contractor has assessed that the Silurian Dadas shale in
southeastern Turkey could contain significant amounts of oil.

The Calagary-based Anatolia Energy Corp. compared Silurian to the U.S. shale deposits of Eagle Ford, Barnett and Niobrara.

Anatolia said it would evaluate Silurian through hydraulic fracturing
flow tests on the Bismil and Antep licenses throughout 2012.

At the same time, Anatolia would present a report on Caliktepe-2 well and other assets by June.

Turkey has determined that Silurian could represent an important facet in the nation’s energy search.

The Ankara government has overseen offshore drilling and other exploration in both the Black Sea and Mediterranean Sea.
