Chalk up another “L” for Marc Elias.

Pennsylvania Democrat Sen. Bob Casey on Thursday conceded the election to Republican challenger David McCormick.

Incumbent Democrat Sen. Bob Casey, left, has conceded the election to Republican David McCormick.

Casey had for weeks refused to concede even though the race had been called for McCormick by The Associated Press and Decision Desk HQ.

“I just called Dave McCormick to congratulate him on his election to represent Pennsylvania in the United States Senate,” Casey announced in a video posted to social media. “As the first count of ballots is completed, Pennsylvanians can move forward with the knowledge that their voices were heard, whether their vote was the first to be counted or the last.”

“This race was one of the closest in our commonwealth’s history, decided by less than a quarter of a point. I’m grateful to the thousands of people who worked to make every eligible vote cast could be counted. Including election officials in all 67 counties,” Casey added.

McCormick’s victory gives Republicans a 53-47 majority when the new Senate convenes on Jan. 8, 2025.

Casey enlisted the services of Elias in an attempt to overturn the election.

Elias was the general counsel to the Hillary Clinton presidential campaign when it funded the infamous Steele dossier, which falsely pushed the idea that Donald Trump was a Russian asset.

“Democratic campaigns fund Elias and his various profitable enterprises to push undemocratic causes,” law professor Jonathan Turley wrote for the New York Post. “That is the case with Casey. Trump won Pennsylvania’s presidential election, and Dave McCormick received tens of thousands more votes.”

With 99% of the votes counted, even Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer relented in allowing McCormick to attend the orientation for new senators.

McCormick accepted Casey’s concession and thanked him for his term of service:

“Senator Bob Casey dedicated his career to bettering our commonwealth. Dina and I want to extend our sincere gratitude to Senator Casey, Terese, and their family for their decades of service, hard work, and personal sacrifice. I am so honored to represent every single citizen in Pennsylvania in the United States Senate and will fight for you every day. Thank you!”

In 2022, McCormick lost the GOP primary for a U.S. Senate seat to Dr. Mehmet Oz, who would go on to lose to Democrat John Fetterman.
