Royal Dutch Shell has shipped the first cargo of Qatari gas oil to a
foreign client.
The company said the fuel came from its Pearl gas-to-liquids
plant in Qatar, which has one train operating in the North Field.

"The Pearl GTL project will play an important role in further enhancing
our diversification of the North Field gas utilization and will support the
optimization of Qatar's competitive position in the world markets by
supplying high quality GTL products," Qatari Energy Minister Mohammed Al
Sada said.
The Shell project has been conducted with its state-owned partner, Qatar
Petroleum. The GTL facility, which produces diesel and lubricant oil, was
expected to operate a second train by 2012.
