France's Secopex was believed to have been linked to the Gadhafi regime
and was said to be helping in the area of VIP security. On May 12, an employee of Secopex
was killed during a shootout with Libyan rebels in Benghazi, Middle East Newsline reported.
"During a police checkpoint in Benghazi last night, five French
nationals were arrested," French Foreign Ministry spokesman Bernard Valero
said. "One of them was shot and died during the night at the Benghazi
hospital."

France did not provide details of the shootout or the identity of the
dead Frenchman. But industry sources said the Secopex employee, said to have
been 49-years-old, arrived at Benghazi from the nearby town of Soluch, which
contained Gadhafi forces.
The shooting took place during clashes between Gadhafi forces and
Libyan rebels in Benghazi, the second largest city in the country. Secopex
has refused to confirm the killing of its employee.
