Industry sources said the East Mediterranean Gas Co. would file at least three lawsuits against the Egyptian government.

They said the complaints would charge the military regime in Cairo with negligence in allowing six bombings of the pipeline in the Sinai Peninsula in 2011.

"There are clauses in which the Egyptian government promised to protect the pipeline and respond adequately to all threats," a source said.

The sources said one suit would be filed by EMG shareholders. The other two would stem from the company itself against Egyptian state-owned firms, including the Egyptian Petroleum Authority and the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Co., for suspending gas supplies.
