A senior House Republican warned that the Egyptian-based Muslim Brotherhood poses a national security threat because the Islamist group's announced commitment to non-violence is questionable.
Rep. Sue Myrick, R-N.C. and chairman for the House Intelligence subcommittee on terrorism, said intelligence agencies around the world are closely watching the Arab Spring to determine whether the Muslim Brotherhood will come to power in the aftermath of the revolutions in Egypt, Tunisia and Libya.
