Beijing sets China policy track for Japan's new PM, using pre-emptive rhetorical and maritime tactics
The Chinese Communist Party leadership has asked newly elected Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda to give up his "hawkish" views toward China — or risk a downgrading in bilateral relations.
In an unusual step, several state media, including the mass-circulation People's Daily and Global Times, have mounted a propaganda blitz against Noda by characterizing him as "a policy hawk on China" and "unrepentant about Japan's aggression against China."
