China bullet train crash highlights nation's unusually high accident rate
Chinese communist leaders are facing unofficial criticism over their handling of the high-speed train crash that killed 40 people on July 23.
As in the past, initial efforts were made by the government to cover up or play down news of the incident, an embarrassment for the government because the bullet train was used in official propaganda as a symbol of China's technological modernization.
