The National Intelligence Council is working on a strategic intelligence analysis of the potential danger to U.S. national security in China's large-scale holdings of U.S. debt. The assessment is said to be part of a coming National Intelligence Estimate or NIE, although a spokesman for the Office of the Director of National Intelligence declined to comment on whether an NIE is being developed on the subject.
