A senior official said the removal of subsidies from the monthly ration of 60 liters of fuel, scheduled to have begun in September, was delayed for at least another month.

"The 60 liter rationed gasoline will be given to motorists for the [Iranian] month of Azar [starting on Nov. 22]," Iranian Transporation and Management Official director Mohammed Royanian said.

"The allocated amount will remain unchanged."

Parliament has urged Ahmadinejad to cut subsidies on fuel and food in an attempt to save up to $100 billion, Middle East Newsline reported.

Subsidized fuel has been sold for 11 U.S. cents per liter while semi-subsidized gasoline sold for about 40 cents per liter.
