NATO commander details 'phased adaptive' plan for missile defense

The commander of NATO and U.S. forces in Europe said last week that the United States is pressing ahead with plans to deploy anti-missile systems in Europe, despite opposition from Turkey. Adm. James Stavridis, the commander, told reporters Nov. 24 that a recent NATO summit discussed plans for the so-called phased adaptive approach to missile defense.
