Package bombmaker targeted: 'For the House of Saud this is personal'
Disclosure that Saudi intelligence was the source behind the discovery of two package bombs sent from Yemen on American freight company jets highlights the kingdom's all-out effort to find and stop Al Qaida bombmaker Ibraham Ashiri, who is credited with manufacturing the bombs. The reason: Asiri was behind the suicide bombing in the summer of 2009 that nearly killed Prince Mohammed bin Nayef, a senior Interior Ministry official who is credited with being the kingdom's chief proponent of aggressive counterterrorism measures. He is the son of Interior Minister Prince Nayef.
