Space strike glider is part of 'prompt global strike' system to reach rogue states, China targets
The Pentagon will launch a second super-high speed glider next year that plays a key role in a future system to strike targets deep inside China in any future conflict.
The first Falcon Hypersonic Technology Vehicle-2 (HTV-2) failed during a flight test in April and crashed into the sea. The vehicle is launched on a missile and then skims the upper earth atmosphere at speeds reaching 13,000 miles-per-hour.
