GAZA CITY Ñ Al Qaida militias have threatened to revolt against the
Hamas regime.
At least one Al Qaida militia has ordered its followers to resist any
arrest by the Hamas regime in the Gaza Strip.
Jund Ansar Allah, or Warriors
for God, warned that Hamas could continue its crackdown on the militia in
wake of the shootout in which 28 people were killed in the southern Gaza
town of Rafah, Middle East Newsline reported.
"Hamas forces continued to pursue our followers in the Gaza Strip,
ransacking their homes, but that will lead to nothing because our fighters
will not hand themselves over," Jund said in a statement on Aug. 18.
On Aug. 15, Hamas military and security forces stormed a Rafah mosque
that resulted in the killing of Jund commander Abdul Latif Abu Mussa. Abu
Mussa
was one of 24 Jund fighters killed in the 10-hour battle in Rafah.
Hamas has accused Jund of being financed by the Palestinian Authority,
particularly former Fatah security chief Mohammed Dahlan. Jund has denied
this, but acknowledged support from abroad.
"All the financial aid for the Islamic groups comes from the Sunni
groups in Palestine and abroad as charities," Jund said.
Other Al Qaida groups have criticized Hamas for the attack on Jund. Al
Qaida-aligned websites said the Hamas regime has "abdicated Islam."
