Exports of crude oil from Kurdish northern Iraq to begin in June
BAGHDAD Ñ Iraq's Kurdistan Regional Government intends to launch
crude oil exports in June 2009.
KRG said the exports would begin on June 1 from the Tawke oil field,
developed by Norway's DNO International. In a May 8 statement, KRG said
exports would begin at 60,000 barrels per day through Turkey.
Officials said exports would also stem from the Taq Taq field. They said
40,000 barrels per day would leave the autonomous region of Iraq via truck
through Turkey.

On May 10, the Iraqi Oil Ministry said it would allow Kurdistan to
export oil through Iraq's national pipeline.
Two days earlier, the ministry
said it would seek to block Kurdish oil exports.
