Terror site provides travel guide for Iraq-bound jihadists

An Internet site has posted instructions that walk terrorists through routes to Al Qaim and Mosul in Iraq to fight with Islamists in the insurgency.

The two routes pass through Syria, and one respondent noted that a coordinator was needed to avoid capture. Syrian security is active in the Al Bukman area.

The two routes include flying to Syria or to Lebanon and then Syria. Once in Syria jihadists are told how best to reach Al Qaim or Mosul.

By road to Al Qaim, terrorists were urged to go to the Homs Governorate and from there to Abu-Kamal city on the bus known as Pullman. “From there you will walk to the city of Al-Qa'im across the Syrian border,” the posting said. “This is a day and a half walk, and of course you will have to walk at night and sleep during the day."

Travel to Al Qaim is easier because walking is done along the Euphrates River. “When you arrive (at Al-Qaim), find a Mosque but don't enter it because most mosques in Iraq are under surveillance. You will surely find men of The Islamic State of Iraq there and you will find that most Sunnis in Iraq are kind, and they will show you how to reach The Islamic State of Iraq. But be very cautious and trust no one but yourself throughout your journey.”

A member of the Islamic State of Iraq posted the report for jihadists on Jan. 28.
