Training video shows Hamas practicing abductions of Israeli soldiers
GAZA CITY — The Hamas Army has been training to abduct Israeli
soldiers in any invasion of the Gaza Strip.
Hamas has been shown practicing methods to stop advancing Israeli main
battle tanks and capturing their crews. The training took place in 2008.
In May 2008, Hamas broadcast a video of the training. Hamas's Al Aqsa
television showed Hamas squads blowing up advancing Israeli MBTs in the Gaza
Strip, Middle East Newsline reported.

In the video, the squads are seen storming the Israeli armored vehicles
and dragging out a soldier. The squads then left with the Israeli captive.
Palestinian sources said Hamas began training to abduct Israeli soldiers
several years ago.
In 2006, a Hamas squad tunneled its way into an Israeli
military base outside the Gaza Strip, blew up an Israeli Merkava-class MBT
and abducted Cpl. Gilad Shalit.
Shalit has been in captivity in the Gaza
Strip ever since.
