ABU DHABI — Saudi Arabia has launched a project to develop a major
oil field.
Saudi Aramco intends to open a tender to develop the Manifa oil field in
a $10 billion program. Industry sources said Aramco would relay invitations
to Western and other majors to add 900,000 barrels of heavy crude
to Manifa production.
Under the program, Manifa would also produce 120 million cubic feet a
day of gas and 50,000 barrels a day of condensate by mid-2011. In the
largest-ever offshore project, Aramco plans to export Manifa crude from the
Al
Juaymah and Ras Tanura terminals in eastern Saudi Arabia, Middle East Newsline reported.

The launch of the Manifa tender has been delayed for several months, the
sources said. In late May, they said, Bechtel, Fluor Corp., JGC Corp. and
Technip submitted prequalification documents to Aramco.
